For high school soccer players that want to get recruited to the college level, being actively engaged in the recruiting process is of the utmost importance. Aspiring college soccer student-athletes and their parents should be well-versed in the timeline of the recruiting process, and the associated NCAA rules.
The NCAA Division I level has a strict timeline for when high school players can begin receiving verbal offers from college coaches (June 15 after sophomore year), and when they can begin making official and unofficial campus visits through a school’s athletic department (August 1 entering junior year).
While other levels of college soccer (such as NCAA Division III), are much more relaxed when it comes to recruiting rules, players who want to play at the Division I level should be aware of the following key dates:
