Leesburg, Virginia – Loudoun Soccer Club has announced the creation of “Loudoun East,” their initiative to expand Travel programming into the Sterling area.
Loudoun East marks a key milestone in a series of moves by Loudoun Soccer in support of its “World Class by World Cup” initiative. One focus of the “World Class by World Cup” vision is expanding pathways to the beautiful game to underserved parts of the Loudoun community, meeting the Club’s mandate to provide equitable play to all.
The new effort will open a new competitive soccer pathway for players in an area that has traditionally enjoyed limited choices for Travel soccer. While Loudoun Soccer currently provides comprehensive programming to players in Southern, Central, and Western Loudoun, Loudoun East will extend those opportunities to players in Loudoun’s Eastern communities, including Cascades, Countryside, and Algonkian.
Led by Community Outreach Director Jose Urquizo and Loudoun East Director Radovan Pletka, Loudoun East will form up to ten competitive boys and girls teams comprised of players from the Sterling area in the U9, U10, U11, U12, and U13 age groups in its inaugural year. Beginning in the 2025/26 season, these teams will continue to train in the Sterling area, but will compete under the Loudoun East banner, with Loudoun Soccer providing technical and administrative support at all levels.
Jose and Rado are well-known in the soccer community, where, in his role as president of Deportivo Sterling, Jose has established a well-respected grassroots program for kids in Sterling Park. Loudoun East creates a bridge between the local Deportivo programs and Loudoun’s competitive leagues.
“Loudoun East is a natural progression for Loudoun Soccer’s player pathway footprint; establishing a program in Sterling was long overdue for the Club,” noted Loudoun Soccer CEO Mark Ryan. “The partnership with Deportivo Sterling, a club built and run on values that match our own, is a critical step in realizing the Club’s vision of expanding player access and grassroots programming throughout the Loudoun community.”
“I am honored to lead Loudoun Soccer’s expansion of programming into the Sterling market. Our team cannot wait to get started and provide high-level soccer opportunities that bring together the entire Loudoun County community,” said Loudoun East Director Radovan Pletka.
Information on coaching staff assignments and April tryout dates and locations will be posted on the Loudoun East webpage as it becomes available.
