What made you decide to verbally commit to Butler?
When I visited Butler I immediately felt at home with how welcoming the coaching staff was. They tried to really get to know who I am as a person, not just as a player. I also had a great time with the team and felt a part of it by the end of my visit. I loved learning from Coach Rob and Coach Tari that they look for players that will create a family dynamic with qualities such as leadership, being responsible, and having determination. I also love the style of play at Butler! They play so creatively and have great possession.
What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?
The recruiting process was definitely very stressful. I am glad I started early by sending out highlights, emails, and posting on twitter. I think that really helped me to get exposure. It was a very cool experience to have so many different calls with so many great programs. I learned how to evaluate what was best for me both academically and as a player.
How do you feel your strengths on the field will help the Bulldogs?
I feel I’m a great fit for Butler’s system. As a center back, I think I read the field well. I am very vocal and definitely instruct and communicate with my team a lot! I am calm and am very comfortable playing out of the back and pulling pressure to open up offensive options. I like to play through the middle but am also able to switch the field or contribute long balls that get us up the field when attacking quickly. I have loved watching Butler’s creative style of play and am excited to be a part of it!
What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?
My favorite subjects are classes that relate to health sciences such as Anatomy & Physiology and AP Bio. I definitely am interested in a health sciences major.
What has your experience been like playing for SC Wave so far?
I have been playing with SC Wave for 6 years. Coming to Wave was a great decision for my continued development. I have been able to train and compete with incredible players that push me to become better. My 2007 GA team has been really successful and we have grown so much together over the years. I have made life long friendships in my soccer family. I am also grateful for all the different coaching views and styles the club has provided me, from my original coaches to my current coach, Paul Sikinger, who has helped me so much with my recruiting.
If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level, what would it be?
Put in extra work outside of practice and stay determined even when things become busy with school and friends. It is all worth it in the end, and I am so glad I made the sacrifices I did to pursue my dream of playing college soccer.
Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off of the field?
My parents have done so much for me in this process, and I would not be where I am today without them. I am so grateful for their support and encouragement throughout my soccer journey.
