SoccerWire is publishing Q&A articles with players who have Featured Profiles in the SoccerWire Recruiting Directory. The series allows players to share their stories on the college recruiting process, playing the game at the international level, travel and high school soccer, and their passion for the beautiful game.

In this edition we will showcase Rose Martelli, who plays club soccer in the ECNL Girls for Atlanta Fire United, and has verbally committed to play for NCAA Division I program Louisiana Tech in 2026.

SoccerWire: What made you decide to verbally commit to Louisiana Tech?

Rose Martelli: I went to a camp and loved everything about the campus and soccer facilities. The coaching staff was very welcoming and made me feel that this was a place for me to grow both as a player and person.

SW: What was the recruiting process like and what did you learn about yourself while going through it?

RM: It was both stressful and exciting at the same time. I learned that patience is important and that knowing what I wanted for my future allowed me to keep a clear mind through all the choas.

SW: How do you feel your strengths on the field will help LA Tech?

RM: Being a strong versatile player that likes to possess the ball will allow me to help the coaching staff and my teammates in multiple ways

SW: What are your favorite subjects in school and what do you think you would like to study in college?

RM: I like math a lot and kinesiology is a program that I am really excited about that is offered at Louisiana Tech.

SW: What has your experience been like playing for your current youth club so far?

RM: I really enjoyed playing for my club. I’m fortunate that it’s so close to home, where many players in youth soccer have to travel a long way for training and games. My dad and uncle are both coaches within the club and my brother and sisters also play for the club. The connection and passion we have for the club is strong.

SW: If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player that wants to play at a high level, what would it be?

RM: Have fun, without fun, the work you have to put in to get to the next level will feel overwhelming at times.

SW: Is there anyone that you would like to give a shoutout to who has helped you both on and off of the field?

RM: My family. We come from a huge soccer family with my grandfather being in a few soccer hall of fames and many relatives playing for youth national teams and division 1 programs. Most importantly my older sister Sophia who is committed to Alabama. She’s someone I look up to and try to emulate.
