SoccerWire is publishing Q&A articles with players who have Featured Profiles in the SoccerWire Recruiting Directory. The series allows players to share their stories on the college recruiting process, playing the game at the international level, travel and high school soccer, and their passion for the beautiful game.
In this edition we will showcase Mirabella Bickham, who plays travel soccer in ECNL for Eagles SC, and has verbally committed to play college soccer in 2026 at Idaho.
SoccerWire: What made you decide to verbally commit to Idaho?
Mirabella Bickham: I enjoy the easygoing atmosphere of the small town of Moscow, it reminds me of my hometown. The coaches and players there are incredibly friendly, and the soccer team has a strong sense of community and camaraderie within their program.
SW: What was the recruitment process like for you? What did you learn about yourself while going through it?
MB: The recruitment process was not easy for me due to an injury that sidelined me for over 7 months. This setback meant missing out on attending ID camps during the summer and not being able to participate in my fall soccer season. These experiences took a toll on my confidence. However, I learned a lot during this time, realizing the importance of mental strength, unwavering focus on my goals, and relentless hard work in achieving them.
SW: What was your earliest soccer memory?
MB: One of my earliest soccer memories is playing in AYSO with my dad as the coach. It was a great experience playing with friends and, of course, eating orange slices.
SW: What has your experience been like playing for Eagles SC?
MB: Eagles is a close-knit club with a family-like atmosphere. The unwavering support I’ve received from the coaches and soccer director has been invaluable. Eagles is known for its focus on early player development, and I credit this emphasis for shaping me into the player I am today.
SW: Outside of soccer, what clubs, organizations, and/or jobs are you involved with and what do you think you would like to study in college?
MB: In addition to club soccer, I participate in track and sideline cheer. I am also involved in Renaissance Leadership and HSA (Health Sciences Academic program).
SW: What are your favorite pair of soccer cleats that you have ever worn?
MB: My favorite cleats are the Nike Mercurial Vapors in black.
SW: If you could give one piece of advice to a younger player who wants to play defender what would it be?4
MB:If I were to offer advice to a younger player regarding defense, I would emphasize the importance of building strong chemistry with your backline. Focus on honing your 1v1 skills, mastering aerial challenges, developing field awareness, and enhancing your ability to anticipate plays.
SW: Is there anyone that you would like to give a shout out to for helping you in your soccer career or in the classroom?
MB: I want to express my gratitude to my mom for her unwavering dedication in driving me to training, attending my games/showcases, and providing both words of encouragement and constructive criticism, even when I may not have wanted to hear it. Additionally, a shout-out to Coach Miguel Ruiz for his continued belief in me, unwavering support, tough love when necessary, and for being an exceptional coach overall
